Empowering Texas Youth
How You Can Help

The Mission of Empowering Texas Youth, Inc. (ETY)

  • ETY spreads a message of the awareness of Search Institute, Inc.’s “Forty Developmental Assets” and the powerful influence the Assets have to promote positive attitudes and behaviors for children and youth and to protect them from many problem behaviors
  • ETY believes that “it takes a village,” and engages adults from all walks of life to become Asset builders in the lives of children and youth, as well as encouraging children and youth to build Assets among their peers.

  • ETY presents at any venue and takes every opportunity to engage all the organizations of a community: schools, religious communities, wellness, businesses, service clubs, youth programs, neighborhoods, and others in hopes of facilitating an “Asset building culture.”
  • ETY affirms Richard Louv’s belief that most children are suffering from a “nature deficit disorder” and that we need to get kids outside apart from a sole diet of digital and social media.* To facilitate that effort “Steve Russell’s Texas Hunter Education” is now wholly a subsidiary of ETY. The goal is to get kids outside to engage in and learn about wildlife and habitat preservation and conservation, as well as wild game as sources of organic food and hunting as a conservation tool.
